Feb 16, 2009: Once again, our people made it happen. BCI named a “Best Places to Work” winner for second straight year

Ridgeland, Miss. — Business Communications, Inc. (BCI) has, for the second consecutive year, been named the ‘Best Place to Work in Mississippi’ among mid-sized companies.

BCI received the accolade through the ‘Best Places to Work’ program presented by the Mississippi Business Journal. BCI was twice named a ‘Best Places to Work’ finalist before taking top honors in 2008 and 2009.

The ‘Best Places to Work’ program, which made its Mississippi debut in 2006, is part of a national trend in recognizing best practices in outstanding workplaces. Companies are evaluated based on employees’ responses regarding corporate culture, values, vision, communication, teamwork, job satisfaction, training, learning and development, and performance and recognition.

“Our corporate philosophy focuses on employees’ professional and personal growth and well-being,” said BCI President Tom Hinds. “Being named the ‘Best Place to Work in Mississippi’ two years in a row reinforces the basic creed by which we’ve operated since the company started 16 years ago -- technology makes it possible, our people make it happen.”

“A simple six-word sentence drives the human resources philosophy of BCI: ‘There’s more to life than work.’ We believe that a healthy balance between a person’s professional and personal life is the cornerstone of intellectual and emotional growth and success,” noted Hinds. “There’s no doubt that our employees are a huge part of our business success, but we care about them as individuals, not just as employees. Receiving this ‘Best Place to Work’ distinction shows that our work environment offers our associates a healthy balance between their work and home lives and we’re very proud of that.”

BCI and other companies named as finalists in the ‘Best Places to Work in Mississippi’ program are recognized for benefiting their communities through contributions to the economic growth of Mississippi, as business places where work is challenging, rewarding and positive, and where employees are engaged and empowered.
Numerous studies show that those workplaces considered by employees to be a ‘Best Place to Work’ benefit from:

Comprehensive reviews by the Department of Labor conclude that there is a positive relationship between training, motivating and empowering employees and improvements in productivity, employee satisfaction and financial performance.
“To maintain BCI’s position as an industry leader, our associates must lead the way,” said Tom Hinds. “People who choose this profession are innovative and always striving to learn more. We give them the tools, educational opportunities, training and encouragement to advance to the next level. The result is amazing work by remarkable people.”

Employee innovation and dedication has led BCI to achieve substantial growth in 16 years of business, culminating in the company’s 2008 inclusion in Inc. magazine’s list of the fastest growing private companies in America.
