Inside Sales Representative
An Inside Sales Representative (ISR) at BCI is a sales position relying on phone, email, and other electronic means to identify new sales opportunities and build configurations to meet customers’ needs. Once the sale is closed, the ISR will help manage the opportunity life-cycle through implementation. This includes working with staff in various departments and coordinating with outside vendors.
The ideal ISR is self-motivated and organized. They will have multiple tasks in different stages of completion that need to be continually “moved forward”. A good fit for an ISR role is someone who is detail-oriented and able to quickly shift when priorities or customers’ needs change.

Sales Department – Sales Manager
Primary Responsibilities
- Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts; soliciting new accounts; building rapport; providing technical information and explanations; preparing quotations.
- Closes new accounts by answering telephone, fax, and e-mail inquiries; verifying and entering information.
- Fills orders by transferring orders to fulfillment; communicating expected delivery date; explaining stock-outs.
- Develops accounts by checking customer’s buying history; suggesting related and new items; explaining technical features.
- Maintains and improves quality results by following standards; recommending improved policies and procedures.
- Updates job knowledge by studying new product descriptions; participating in educational opportunities.
- Accomplishes department and organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Work Standards
- ISRs at BCI follow established industry standards as well as internal BCI standards
- ISRs will strive to provide the highest quality of work and reflect a professional attitude at all times
- At BCI we expect the highest level of professionalism. This includes putting the Customer first in all decisions.
- Generally, this is an 8am – 5pm M-F position but some overtime may be necessary
Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) is required
Minimum of 3 years work experience in the IT industry

- Must be able to build relationships with customers over the phone
- Must be able to identify opportunities over the phone and via email
- Manage budgets, timelines, and schedule resources all while working through potential conflicts that come up
- Detail oriented – able to coordinate and work effectively on opportunities with many “moving parts”
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to understand and explain complex technical concepts to customers that may have limited technical understanding
- Significant experience with Microsoft Office software
- Technical knowledge
- Must have a good working knowledge of technology as this position deals with a lot of technical details.

- Problem solving – issues may come up that require creative solutions and a logical thought process to work around
- Initiative – the ISR plays an active role in managing the customer relationship
- Able to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with potentially conflicting priorities

- People skills / conflict management – able to interact and work with diverse individuals. Maintains composure in high-pressure situations and resolves conflicts
- Ability to creating trusting relationships with colleagues and customers
- Basic understanding of financial concepts – must have basic financial knowledge to understand leases, purchases, operating budgets, and capital budgets

- Supervision
- Limited supervision required. ISR generally work independently and are able to make sound decisions that affect the outcome of sales opportunities
- ISRs participate in weekly sales meetings
- ISRs manage a funnel to report the status of all ongoing opportunities
Physical Requirements / Job Environment
This is a typical office environment. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while operating a computer. There is the potential for lifting computer equipment.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a salary position with an expectation of 40 hours per week. There is a potential of more than 40 hours in some circumstances. The salary is competitive for similar positions in the Jackson metro area.
